The Honey Bee Scarf was inspired by a single skein of Hand Maiden Maiden Hair that we had laying around the shop. I believe it was a sample skein that was eventually misplaced, only to be rediscovered after a long hibernation.
The colors reminded me of Honey Bees – their striped bodies, their colorful comb, and their fuzzy little legs. I decided to mimic the open structure of the comb in this design.
This scarf uses an entire skein of Maiden Hair. You begin by making the fringe, then knit until the yarn is gone. The lace pattern is a simple 3-line repeat, creating a double-sided fabric (the same on front and back). It is true decadence in scarf form.
